ChromaSnack is my colour skittles sorter. Like RetroBox for 2016, it was my 2017 project and explored the idea of using servo motors and focused more on the engineering aspect of electronics. The main purpose of ChromaSnack is to sort coloured skittles into separate test tubes using motors to move them. I used cardboard for prototyping and was originally going to use rods of metal to support wooden shelves. However, in June, Icon and I joined NADHack, a maker group that owns a collection of advanced tools and allows other people to join and use the.

Newbury Carnival

NADHack were at Newbury Carnival on the 16th of July and we were there supporting NADHack as new members. We had a stall near the pond in Victoria Park and there were a lot of visitors. We had an array of displays to show what NADHack can do. These included a robotic arm that uses a camera to play Connect Four (it was very hard to beat), a 3d printer printing a TARDIS, I was showing my personal game project from 2016, RetroBox, and we had a full sized Dalek.

On the 6th of July, we decided to visit NADHack. NADHack is the Newbury and District Hackspace and was created to promote and encourage technical, scientific, creative and artistic skills through collaboration and education in Newbury and the surrounding areas. They are home to an amazing range of machinery, such as pillar drills, 3D printers, laser cutters and a lot more. Every summer, I do an electronics project. Last year it was RetroBox (a game machine) and this year I’m working on something else.
